The Pursuit Of Leisure

100% correct, 50% of the time. A tongue in cheek look at culture both high and low.

Football Notes.

Three quick things:

1. It was absolutely great watching Aaron Rodgers rush for a touchdown and do the Lambeau Leap into the crowd. Nobody deserved that moment more than Rodgers after the shit he put up with this summer and the last couple of years. I will be shocked if the Pack doesn't win their division by 2 or more games.

2. Now that Tom Brady is out for the season how long will it take for Randy Moss to tunr back into his petulant pain in the ass self? I say by week 9 he is throwing tantrums and not showing up for practice because he is not in the end zone twice a week.

3. So Chad Johnson has changed his name eh? Shouldn't somebody tell this idiot that he may want to win an actual playoff game before he starts doing things like that. He is officially the biggest jackoff in the NFL. I honestly think Marvin Lewis or Carson Palmer is going to ram his head through a wall before the season's over.

Speaking of Lewis I think he will resign at the end of the year. It was absolutely ridiculous that his owner undercut him be bringing Chris Henry back to that team. Lewis has no authority left with his players.

Canadian Election.

If you are expecting a lot of posts about our upcoming Canadian Federal election in the next few weeks you may be disappointed. As the Hammer and I were discussing a few weeks ago I can't remember a time where I have been more bored with Canadian politics than right now. I mean there is nothing of significant interest in this election. And the outcome is going to be the exact same as before (Conservative minority, with perhaps a few gains in Quebec).

NFL.

I won't even pretend to call this a preview. I like the NFL but I really don't follow it closely enough, or know enough about it, to give any kind of in depth preview.

And I will say that my picks were made before Tom Brady got hurt and I just didn't get to doing this post (I was on vacation until this morning).

In the AFC championship game I like the Steelers over the Colts. I think the Pats secondary is really weak and the Colts can exploit it. I also think the Pats linebackers are old and that the Steelers O line would crush their D line if they meet the Steelers. I also think the current version of the Colts are done. The can make it to the conference final but that's it. I think they will gradually rebuild after this year.

In the NFC Championship game I am taking the Cowboys over the Seahawks. The 'Boys are stacked and they are ready to finally break through in the playoffs. I think they will lose to the Steelers in the Super Bowl though.
