Canadian Politcs Used To Matter.

- The Shane Doan controversy is so ridiculous it's not even worth commenting on. Other than to say it's no wonder that over the last two decades Canada has lost so much respect internationally.

- Watching the Spurs take out the Nuggets last night, and the killer instinct they showed in doing it, has me more convinced than ever they are going to win the title again. Unfortunately, because the NBA does not always have the top remaining seed playing the lowest as it should (and the NHL does) the Spurs will play the Suns, the only other team who can win it, in the second round. In other words the championship series is unofficially in the second round. Stupid.

- I was at the Raptors game on Tuesday night and it had to be the most nervous I have ever been watching a sporting event. Even up 20 points after the 1st quarter I knew it wasn't over. After a 2 point win and a brutal second half I don't see how they can extend the series in Jersey tonight.

- Apparently Trent Dilfer has a golf handicap of plus 1.5. At least he's good at one sport.

- So Brady Quinn fell to number 22 in the draft because he never won the big games at Notre Dame. Peyton Manning never won the big game at Tennessee either and he just won a Super Bowl. And don't worry Brady, Tom Brady went in the sixth round. The NFL draft no longer has anything to do with what you have done on the field, it is strictly about how fast you run your 40 and how many times you bench press 225 pounds at the combine. Games just get in the way.

This made up controversy surrounding Shane Doan is an abomination. It's almost embarrassing to be Canadian when the number one issue facing parliament is what the captain of a hockey team may have said. For the record his French teammates came to his defense and the guy doesn't even swear. That's good enough for me to clear him .

The Suns playing the Spurs is ridiculous. A 2 playing a 3 when an 8 seed could be alive is so lame. Maybe I'm just bitter because I don't like the match up with San Anton. Suns in 7 anyway.

JaMarcus Russel has bust written all over him. Sorry I don't care if you can hurl a ball 60 yards on one knee. You know what they call that in the NFL - a sack. What
have big mobile quarterbacks accomplished. Between Vick, Culpepper and McNabb - Zero superbowls, 1 conference championship and they're hurt more often than not. And for the record in most of ND big games (save last year's sugar bowl) they scored over 30 points but when your D gives up 45 you're not going to win many games.

Good points all around.

It;s hard not to question a number 1 overall pick who not many people had going in even the second round until late December.
