NFL Notes.

- Just when you think an AFC team can't look any worse winning a game against a good opponent than the Colts did on Saturday, the Pats come along yesterday and looked awful yet pulled out a win against the Chargers.

The Pats were awful and the fact the Chargers blew this game is ridiculous. But Brady is still the best QB in the league and you just knew when he got the ball with 4 minutes left he was going to get them into chip shot field goal range. No doubt in my mind. He really is the second coming of Joe Montana. He doesn't have the best arm or the best stats but who would you rather give the ball to with 4 minutes left?

I'm sick of the Colts and the Pats already.

- Marty Schottenheimer should be fired today. His teams never look prepared for big games (his 5-13 playoff record proves that) and his game plans are terrible.

Take their offense yesterday as an expample. The Patriots secondary is average at best and their defensive scheme was determined to stop LaDanian Tomlinson. That meant a lot of one on one coverage. The Chargers have the best tight end in the league in Antonio Gates who is bigger, stronger, and just as fast as anyone in the Pats secondary. The Chargers should have thrown to him all day because he would have had three touchdowns. But no they didn't and now they get to watch the Super Bowl from home. Maybe Gates and Philip Rivers can watch it together. That is if they know what each other looks like. Someone should introduce them.

- Why the hell did Andy Reid decide to punt with less than two minutes left against the Saints and down three points? He was going to go for it on 4th and 10 and then the Eagles got a penalty and he punted on 4th and 15. That was just plain stupid.

- As long as the Saints are around I still have someone to root for. The Bears are boring. If they beat the Saints I won't have much interest in the Super Bowl.
