Mini US Open Preview

For the past few years anyone with a brain in their head who follows golf would have said Tiger was pretty much a lock to win this year's US Open because it is being played at Torrey Pines, a course he absolutely owns.

That was before he had knee surgery though. I do think he is fully capable of winning it in his first start since knee surgery I am just not convinced he will. I am actually going to go with Phil Mickelson who also has performed great at this course and played it often growing up. I honestly don't see it being anyone other than Tiger or Phil.

Combined those two are 2 for 36 in Opens and don't even have that many top 5s - mostly because they hit 50ish% percent of fairways and end up in manhood robbing rough. Like to see Phil win but I'd go with the field if cash was on the line. Cabrerra, Cambell, Ogilvie all came out of nowhere to win. Some other stiff will take it this year.

Yeah but it's Torrey Pines. Tiger and Phil both know this course so well that the length and rough won't make that much difference.

The US Open is usually played on courses that only get played once every 7 or 8 years on the rotation. The last time it was played on a course they play every year was 2000 at Pebble and Tiger destroyed the field. That's why I am thinking one of the two of them will win.

If they don't I like either Adam Scott or Sergio to break through.

I also think Phil knows this may be his last really good chance at a US Open.
