Bob and Harry.

- People were calling in to Ottawa radio this morning to complain that Bob Cole and Harry Neale were an awful announcing pair. While there is some truth to that (and I'll be the first to admit they are Leaf homers), it is not right to say that Neale sounds uninterested in the series as many callers did. Neale always sounds uninterested in the games he's covering. He's got a very dry sense of humour and never gets animated about anything. Cole on the other hand is just to old to call the games. He is always about 10 seconds behind the play and is making more and more mistakes on players names and who has the puck. For that reason I would much rather have Jim Hughson calling every big game.

- As the Jays lose game after game and announce BJ Ryan is done for the year, I shudder to think what their win total will be this year. And on the flip side the Yanks (one of only two teams in pro sports I really loathe, along with the Habs) are now only one game below .500. As a Red Sox fan they are starting to scare me. It's really only natural as they have tormented Boston for about 85 years.

- I really thought the Bulls would be competitive against the Pistons. So I'm pretty shocked that they blew a 19 point 3rd quarter lead last night to fall behind 3-0. The Pistons are no 7-0 in the playoffs and look like they might actually give the Suns or Spurs a series in the Finals.

Time to send J.P. packing. We're what, 7 years into his 5 year plan and what do we have to show for it? One second place AL East finish and no playoff appearances despite a healthy payroll. And now we have the second worst record in the AL in mid May with the KC Royals hot on our tail. Embarrassing. And you J.P. apologists can spare me the injury card. Every team has injuries. The difference is the Jays have no depth. None. This guy gets no value for players, drafts terribly and his coach has no clue how to manage a pitching staff - granted there isn't much he can do with this collection of stiffs J.P. assembled.

Only the Leafs would keep someone around for that long with a history of failure and where mediocrity is something to shoot for.

Where's Gord Ash anyway? Oh ya, he's building a contender in Milwaukee.

Gord Ash was a horrible GM and doesn't know a thing about evaluating baseball talent so don't even try to convince me he would do a good job in Toronto. And he's not the one calling the shots in Milwaukee.

I don't think the Jays will finish with 95 losses but you're right, JP has to go. Even taking into account they are in a division with the Sox and Yanks (who only recently have both beun to slip) his record is awful. He hasn't drafted all that well but nobody really does consistently in baseball. It's by far the biggest crapshoot of any draft because guys are not ready to walk in right away like in the NFL, NHL, or NBA.

I think Gibbons should also be fired. He hasn't got a clue how to handle a pitching staff and last year got into brawls with 2 players. Unacceptable.
