Mid Week Sports Observations.

- The Devils firing of Claude Julien with 3 games left is certainly unusual but Big Louie Lam has proven time and again to be the best GM and smartest guy in hockey so he gets the benefit of the doubt from me. As far as consistent on ice performance goes, Jersey is far and away and the best organization in hockey. And if I'm not mistaken they sacked a coach a few years ago before the playoffs and won the Cup.

- I actually hope the Leafs miss the playoffs. I would just rather see them have a shot at a high draft pick then getting swept in the first round by the Sabres. I really don't see anyone at the bottom of the east having a playoff run like the Oilers last year.

- I would like to see the Habs get the 8th spot and get hammered by the Sabres though. That would be sweet.

- Congrats to the Florida Gators on winning their 2nd NCAA tournament in a row. They really were a stacked team with 5 future NBA players in their front six. The interesting thing about that game was that it showed who the really great prospects are on that team and showed that Joakim Noah is not one of them. He is a great college player because of his speed and height. In the NBA there are plenty of guys with speed and height so it won't make much difference for him. He is terrible offensively because he can't shoot and does not handle the ball very well and he won't be able to rebound in the pros because he is not strong enough to fight off forwards like Chris Bosh or Elton Brand who he would likely be matched up with.

Al Horford and Corey Brewer on the other hand are absolute studs. Horford is going to be the second coming of Karl Malone and Corey Brewer is Stacey Augmon with a jump shot.
