Random Stuff.

- So Texas won't be beating North Carolina in the third round of the NCAA's as I originally predicted. That would be because Longhorns coach Rick Barnes is a terrible game coach. Kevin Durant is the most explosive scorer in college in the past 25 years and should have the ball in his hands every time down the court. He really is a cross between Scottie Pippen and Kevin Garnett. Instead he doesn't get the ball and they lose to USC. Well done Barnes.

- College coaching is so different from the pros because of the recruiting factor. There are very few coaches in NCAA basketball who are great coaches and recruiters and those are the guys who are always competitive. Teams like Arizona, Duke, UNC, UConn and Wisconsin come to mind. Most coaches are great recruiters and lousy coaches however, but increasingly recruiting is more important. Coaches like that are Barnes, Billy Donovan (the Gators play well as a group but are fundamentally awful), and schools like UCLA and Ohio State.

- I'm sticking with my original Final Four of Florida, Kansas, Georgetown and Ohio St.

- The reason critics hate bands like Nickelback and The Black Eyed Peas (who I actually like) is because they are awful, it's really not that hard to figure out. I recently said Nickelback is the worst band currently making music and I stand by that. My 11 year old nephew could write better lyrics than these self importants jags. If there is a musical equivalent to jumping the shark it was that song with that ridiculous "Kickin' your ass would be a pleasure" line. It is impossible to hear Nickelback without either cringing or laughing out loud. Especially now that they are ripping off Kid Rock with that Wanna Be A Rock Star tune. And for the record I like Kid Rock.

- You know it must of hurt if Iggy Pop says it hurts. This guy is as big a medical marvel as Keith Richards. I remember listening to an interview with Iggy where he admitted that he doesn't remember living with David Bowie in Berlin in the 70's. They lived together for at least 2 years and he doesn't have one recollection of it. That's pretty damned impressive.

- I think Emma Watson bailing on the last two Harry Potter movies is a strange move. She doesn't want to be known as the "girl from Harry Potter" but she has already done five of them. How is another two going to hurt. On the other hand she is the most talented actor in the group and may have better opportunities lined up.
