Trouble In The Desert.

Sorry for the break in the action but I was in Toronto for a very long week on business and was too bagged each night to write. Onwards...

It's time to admit that Wayne Gretzky, the greatest player in NHL history and the sports biggest champion, is a complete failure as an executive. The Coyotes are a disaster and he is the one who has final say on all personnel moves. They have been bad for a long time and won't get better until he gives control of hockey operations to someone who knows how to build a team.

Gretzky's greatest personal strength was always his loyalty but that's what's killing him as a coach. He signs guys who can't play anymore (I'm on record as saying Jeremey Roenick is the biggest asshole in the NHL and even I can't stand to watch him stumble his way to a 20 point season))surrounds himself with personal friends and seems to think everything will work it. This extends beyond the Coyotes too as he has proven with his inability to build Team Canada. Last year he stubbornly refused to put young studs like Crosby or Staal on the team in favour of guys like Bertuzzi. Wayne, do everyone a favour and become an owner who only promotes the team, not runs it.
