The Open Championship.

No matter what anyone says I think the British is the most prestigious of all the majors. It's the one you should want to win more than any other because it is the true world championship and is the closest thing to real golf the way it was originally played with the links and crazy weather.

The popular pick is Sergio Garcia and I see why. Sergio's putting always kills him but the greens are always slower at the British. I just don't see him winning this week. Eventually he is going to win at least 2 majors. Tee to green he is the best in the world. Yes better than even Tiger because Sergio is in the fairway more often. All it will take for Sergio is a hot putting week to win at Augusta or a US Open.

So who do I think will win this week? Justin Rose. He played great at Royal Birkdale 10 years ago, finishing 3rd as a 17 year old. I think the karma is good for him. He has played well in majors for the first three days many times and I think this week he plays great all four rounds. If it isn't Rose I will take either Lee Westwood or Ernie Els.

As for morons saying there will be an asterisk beside whoever wins because Tiger isn't there - Tiger has played in over 30 majors that he didn't win and there was no asterisk next to the winners name so there shouldn't be this time.

I agree on the Open but what a bunch of pussies out there bitching about the weather and the conditions. Once I saw the forecast I picked Weir. He's a great mudder and his game is coming back to him.

There's a great article in the Globe about Jack commenting on the pampering and overall wussieness of the younger players and he's dead on balls accurate. They're content with a top 15 paycheck and money for wearing the logos. They just don't want it bad enough.

And for those asterisk idiots. Eldrick is brutal in bad conditions and wouldn't stand a chance any place where the temp drops below 70 and the wind blows more than 8 mph.

Agree on all counts especially about Tiger not doing well in bad weather.

Players today are content to finish in the top 10 and collect a fat cheque and it's pathetic.

In a way Tiger has helped ctreate a situation where he is the only one who wants it. What I mean is his ability and popularity gained the tour huge increases in prize money, so guys are not as hungry. As a result he wins more, which only keeps driving up purses and making the situation worse.

I would have absolutely loved to see Greg Norman take on Tiger when he was in his prime. He didn't give a shit about the money and his sole reason for playing would have been to kick Tiger's ass. That would have been a hell of a rivalry as competitive as Norman was.
