Fron One Extreme To The Other.

- I find the thought of Joe Torre ending up as the manager of the Dodgers hilarious. First because the atmosphere in Lala land is so different. Nobody cares about anything there so there really isn't that mcuh pressure. But more so because the Dodgers core group of players is relatively young, which is a really bad fit for Torre. Maybe the Dodgers hope signing Torre will get them ARod but I doubt it will. Though LA would be the perfect place for him to.

- The Raptors won their season opener last night which obviously makes me happy. Look for my full NBA preview this weekend.

Personally I don't think it matters much where Torre goes. Put a billy goat in charge of those teams and he'd do pretty well. Granted he’s a calming influence over the team, but seriously, how much real controversy was there while they were winning 12 strait AL East crowns and 4 WS?

I don't think it will happen, but it's an intriguing possibility. A-Rod signs with a team for less than the $27mil a year he would have made as a Yankee playing out his contract. The yanks are out of the bidding and that alone sends a signal that winning bid won't be astronomical. The Red Sox won a title without him and look like a lock to repeat, the Cubs are for sale and no business takes on huge payroll increases while that's going on, nobody else can or chooses to even play in the over $20mil a year field except the Angels who are hell bent on their hot minor league prospects and have shown no sign of shelling out big cash.

Could happen.

Looking forward to your NBA picks. My guess is the Raps are good for 48 wins. Suns win 58. Spurs repeat.

I was at the Raps opener at the ACC. They played very well, but started to tank towards the end of the 3rd and let Philly go from 21 points back to a tie. They have a glaring weakness on defence as they couldn't seem to rebound to save their lives.

And Nesterovic is terrible.

But, when they clicked, they were great and Kapono looked really good, as did Parker and Barngnani.
