Goodbye Birdie

The Blue Jays recent trade of Eric Hinske to the Red Sox was a great move. He's very overpaid at $4.4 million and has gotten steadily worse since winning the Rookie of the Year in 2002. This year he is basically a platoon player who only has 12 home runs and 29 RBI's. I really don't think trading him (or a pedestrian middle reliever) is waving the white towel. It frees up salary space for next year and gives Frank Catalanotto and Reed Johnson, each hitting better than .310, more playing time.

More support more my belief that Greg Maddux is a better pitcher than Roger Clemens.

Everybody knows that Tiger and Phil hate each others guts, but some people seem disappointed that they didn't brawl on the 5th green. Did they really expect them to?
